EFW Pipes

VEFLOX manufactures heavy-duty Electric Fusion Welded (EFW) pipes designed for extreme pressure and high-temperature environments. Rolled from premium heavy steel plates and welded using a high-energy electric arc with filler metal, our EFW pipes provide the ultimate solution for large-diameter pipeline networks where seamless execution is either physically impossible or economically unviable.

Manufacturing Process
Cold-formed from heavy steel plates and fused longitudinally using an electron beam or electric arc with the addition of filler metal (unlike ERW). The pipe is then heat-treated to relieve structural stress.

ASME / ANSI B36.10M (Carbon & Alloy), ASME B36.19M (Stainless), API 5L (Line Pipe)
Material Grades
Carbon & Alloy Plate Pipe: ASTM A671 (Low Temp), ASTM A672 (Moderate Temp), ASTM A691 (High Temp Alloy)
Stainless Steel: ASTM A312, ASTM A358, ASTM A409 (Austenitic large diameter)

Outer Diameter (OD): 16" NB up to 100"+ NB (406mm to 2540mm+).
Designed specifically for large-bore requirements.
Wall Thickness
Available in custom heavy wall thicknesses up to 150mm depending on the plate raw material. Conforms to standard Schedules (Sch 40, Sch 80, Sch 160) and non-standard project specifications.
Testing & Inspection
Subject to 100% Radiography (X-Ray) of the entire longitudinal weld seam, alongside strict Hydrostatic, Ultrasonic (UT), and Destructive mechanical testing.
End Finishes & Coatings
Beveled End (BE) standard for heavy welding. Coatings include 3LPE, FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy), PTFE lining, and Coal Tar Enamel.

Because EFW pipes are rolled from flat steel plates rather than pierced from billets, they can be manufactured in enormous diameters that are simply impossible to achieve via seamless extrusion.

The inclusion of a high-grade filler metal during the fusion process, combined with full thermal stress relief, ensures that the weld seam is structurally as strong as the parent plate material.

Heavy Wall Customization

EFW allows for the use of incredibly thick steel plates. This permits highly customized, heavy-wall pipe manufacturing tailored specifically for ultra-high-pressure vessel connections and power plant manifolds.
